TATE Modern

This is my final outcome for a poster designed in collaboration with (BA) Bournemouth University Advertising students which was chosen to be exhibited as a part of the upcoming Good Life 2030 temporary exhibition at London’s Tate Modern.
The topic was given by Purpose Disruptors in honour of Earth Day. I am the designer of this poster, and the concept behind it was provided by two BU students. Our topic was “Changing nature from a distant relative to a close family member”. I received the brief they composed on their idea of showing the relationship between family and nature.
The tree and the roots symbolise the naturalistic way we talk about our origins and the pictures on the different branches. This is how we show people where we come from; this is how we talk about our relatives, close or distant. I established the connection between nature and people by comparing the veins to a mirror of roots.
The caption of the work is:
“Naturalistic vocabulary is often used when we think of family – describing our “roots” and “family trees”. Yet nature is so distant from our every-day. This work emphasises the entanglement of nature & family through the structures both provide within our life.”
